What are you staring at?

People are always so much more fun to draw when they’ve got a bit of weight on them.

Bouffant, M’dame?

Happy Friday. All is quiet, and it really is bedtime- but there’s a niggling need to draw- surprising, considering I do it all day…

bouffant

There will be more atwork from Death from Above coming up, both comic and animation pre-prod. So look out for it. All I’ve got to do is figure out an ending

Tel Aviv SketchCrawl

We were pretty wary of some heavy rains this weekend. Well hey, I’m british, so rain is nuthin’. But my Israeli friends are delicate flowers, so we opted for a nice cafe on Rothschild Boulevard, Tel aviv’s most groovy, Bauhausy, and pleasingly human-scaled boulevard. Sketched there. Drank belgian beer on an empty stomach so sketches got wobbly. Then grabbed a gourmet burger at Moses, down the road. Nice, and simple.

A Drawing of the road:

SKA1

And some of our fellow cafe dwellers. One couple did not like being sketched one bit, and went off in a huff…

This Girl had an interesting bottom lip. Glad she didn’t ask to see my sketchbook.

Saw these guys strolling down the road ( it’s purim over here…. therefore a lot of fancy dress parties). Got to love the Middle East.

I wound up at the pool, and thought I’d draw these old boys chewing the cud in the hot tub:

Duck and Cover interior art

sketchships_1

Morning. The @#$% Cat just knocked over my painty water jar.  Again. I’m working away on interior art for issue 2 of Duck and Cover….I love the chance to break out the oils and make a mess. I drew out the sketch on stretched paper and began the painting in oils before going to photoshop for the finish. Depicted: The Armada of our bad guy, a genius chicken who uses an old Russian sub and jet parts to create his flying battleship.

And Hey, if you’re in Tel aviv, come and join us for this weekend’s global sketchcrawl, details are on the facebook page. Any questions, drop me a line/comment. Be great to see you.

More to come…

Death from above, page 2

4a

Page two gets ink and colour. I’m still finding my feet with technique, and how I want colours and strokes to work with this particular project.  We’ll see how I end up! 4 more to go.

Inking

sketch_comics

The kind of desktop I like to see, late at night. More to follow…

Oh, before I forget; I’ve started a tumblr repository for all things wonderful and inspiring in art and animation. It’s here.

G’night.

SuperPowers I wish I had # 1

My town seems to be populated with an inordinate amount of chelsea tractors on the school run. Dumb, dumb vehicles being used in a dumb way. At least get them muddy. So. Poof!
